Mothers Who Know

"Mothers who know" do less. They permit less of what will not bear good fruit eternally. They allow less media in their homes, less distraction, less activity that draws their children away from their home. Mothers who know are willing to live on less and consume less of the world’s goods in order to spend more time with their children—more time eating together, more time working together, more time reading together, more time talking, laughing, singing, and exemplifying. These mothers choose carefully and do not try to choose it all. Their goal is to prepare a rising generation of children who will take the gospel of Jesus Christ into the entire world. Their goal is to prepare future fathers and mothers who will be builders of the Lord’s kingdom for the next 50 years. That is influence; that is power." ~Julie Beck

A Dream Vacation

The week before school got out Ryan sent me an email to let me know that he had won an all expense paid vacation from Fidelity. Now, I know what you are thinking. Because that is what I was thinking, too. Yeah,, sure you get a couple of hotel nights but, you have to pay for all of the travel, sit through a seminar about time shares etc. Well, that isn't it at all!

He won an ALL expense paid vacation that we could choose where and when we went in the 48 states, Mexico, the Bahamas or Canada. Well being the scuba diver he is we decided to take the cruise. So on March 5th we fly to Miami, spend the night there. Board our boat on Friday and spend the next 4 days cruising the Bahamas. Not only do they pay for everything. They pay him extra vacation days for him to be gone from work and give him $300 cash. We decided on the cruise so that they would pay for the food rather than it coming out of our pockets but we are soooooo excited. The only bad thing is that we had to do it over a weekend that is a professional development day. When Ryan scheduled it they didn't have a lot of openings and so he took it anyway.
Apparently they award 2 trips a year and Ryan won it!! What an awesome Christmas present!!
