Mothers Who Know

"Mothers who know" do less. They permit less of what will not bear good fruit eternally. They allow less media in their homes, less distraction, less activity that draws their children away from their home. Mothers who know are willing to live on less and consume less of the world’s goods in order to spend more time with their children—more time eating together, more time working together, more time reading together, more time talking, laughing, singing, and exemplifying. These mothers choose carefully and do not try to choose it all. Their goal is to prepare a rising generation of children who will take the gospel of Jesus Christ into the entire world. Their goal is to prepare future fathers and mothers who will be builders of the Lord’s kingdom for the next 50 years. That is influence; that is power." ~Julie Beck

Happy New Years

Okay we will back up...
Thanksgiving~ Ryan's family came including, Kami from Ohio, Brent, Roberta, Kip and Nikolay from Whidbey Island and of course Deena's clan and Rick and Amy. Everyone was here because Rick and Amy got married on Saturday the 28th in the Salt Lake Temple. It was a wonderful weekend and we are so excited for Amy to join our family.

The Monday afterward I went to Clear Creek with all of the 5th graders for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was really fun but crazy. The girls had a piano recital while I was gone and they did fantastic.

December brought concerts, concerts and more concerts... Stephanie played the ghost of Christmas present in A Christmas Carol. She was darling. Darren had a choir concert at the high school. He was really fun to watch on stage. Jessica had a choir concert at the Jr. High and Stephanie had a choir concert at the elementary school. They are my kids by the way. Oh yeah I took on our school choir in November so I also had to lead a choir song or two at Saratoga.

My older brother Denny came to Salt Lake for business and we went downtown to meet him with Jeff and the boys for dinner. It was very fun.

Needless to say that by the time school got out for Christmas vacation I was tired of having places to run every day. But our vacation time was AWESOME! I stayed home and watched movies, the snow fall and my kids play with everything under the sun. We had a beautiful Christmas season, we have been very blessed this year.

Jon and Melissa Graham came to dinner on Christmas eve. Ryan considers Jon his 'Godson' no we aren't Catholic but we might as well be when it comes to them.
Kathryn flew to Denver on the 27th to play Nanny for Teresa. She didn't take her IPOD out of her pocket so she set off the alarms at the airport:)) She had a blast. They went to movies, snow shoeing and out to eat for every meal. She flew back on the 1st and then we went to Kaysville to spend the night with Ryan's cousin Sam and Treva. We went there and hung out, ate good food and went to the movies. We love Sam. Ryan wishes he was a brother!
I took the kids sledding with Abby (Darren's girlfriend) and she came over on New Year's Eve and then they went to a party. Jessica went to a party and Ryan, Steph and Rebecca and I went to party at the Braby's.

As we started the new year we have set new goals and are striving to accomplish old ones. We were sad to find out that Ryan's work schedule changed and now he has to work Sundays again. We have been in the nursery at church and our cute kids all went to Primary this last Sunday. I am sad to lose my partner, this is the first calling that Ryan and I have had together and we have loved it:)
I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I've been wondering how you've been. You seemed to disappear. Now I know why. :)

K-Sounds like you had a very full last few months. I'm glad Christmas break went well for you. So D has a girlfriend - can't wait to see him so I can make fun of him. Ah the joys of being an aunt.

I'm so glad you could party with us on NYE. Randy's been anxious to play that game ever since. Here's to a 2010 full of good times!

What was it you said to me last week Marg...your goal is to be what kind of aunt? Seriously, I can't remember.

Kerri, it sounds like Utah Mom and family are lots of fun. You Hackings are also so I can see why you get along great! What games did you play?
